A New Facility for Texas Adaptive Aquatics
In August 2017, Hurricane Harvey made landfall on the Texas and Louisiana coasts. It was a Category 4 storm that caused over $125 billion in damage. Among the destruction was our facility in Huffman, Tx. After 31 years in operation, we are having to rebuild from the ground up.
Now in 2020, Texas Adaptive Aquatics is making moves to build a brand new facility so that we can continue serving our community and promoting inclusive water sports for everyone! The new facility is 3 acres of waterfront property and sits higher to prevent this from happening again. This extra space will allow us to expand our operation. As always we need volunteers!
Some exciting features of our new facility include:
- A Large Dock! Wheelchair Friendly!
- An outdoor kitchen and pavilion! Who's hungry?
- A Lodge!
- A Wheelchair-accessible restroom!
- A Shop for our adaptive equipment!
Doing Our Part in Our Community
We at Texas Adaptive Aquatics pride ourselves on being able to offer recreational and therapeutic water sports clinics for free in our community. When you donate to TAA, your generosity directly helps us continue to be able to offer these services. We believe that sports such as water skiing and sailing should be available to everyone in our community and are proud to do our part in sharing these activities with the physically and mentally disabled adults and children in our community.
As we recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, we plan to sell our current facility to invest in the construction of our new location. Unfortunately, the damage has also impacted our fundraising and donations. With design and construction costs at an approximate $600,000.00 we find ourselves in desperate need for your support. Our goal is to continue serving the disabled community with our water sport training programs and we can only achieve that by partnering with you. For $ 10.00 per month you can make a difference.
